Where is the Hub?
The Hub is to be found in the former Gilmerton Parish Church building now splendidly renewed and re-opened as the base for Gilmerton New Church. It is on the north side of Ravenscroft Street not far from the junction with Drum Street.
Live @ The Hub
Live @ The Hub is a series of events to launch the opening of The Hub.
Still owned by Gilmerton New Church the renovated building can be used for a variety of events, including worship. This month will showcase some of these events and give people
a chance to see what the church has been doing since it began being a "new church of new generations" in 2002. Easter is a time for the Christian Church to celebrate and we invite you to discover
again the depths of life available to us through God.
If you have any questions about the church, The Hub or the work done in the community, contact the minister Paul Beautyman on 664 7538.

Echo Article : June 2007
"What's happening to Gilmerton Church?"
"What's happening to Gilmerton Church?" Many people have been asking this as builders' vans and portacabins have appeared outside Gilmerton Church on Ravenscroft Street last week.
Since November 2002 Reverend Paul Beautyman was given the job of starting a new church for young people and their families. Since then a lot has happened, especially in Gilmerton
Primary ; Liberton High and Gracemount High. As contacts grew and events began the number of families and young people connecting with these activities has grown. The church has not stopped even if the building has been empty!
This growth did not require a church building and as the building was declared unsafe early in 2003 it has not been used since. However, it was always part of the plan to re-open the building as a community resource while still being a place of worship. The project has been mainly funded by the sale of property around the manse and the old pottery in Ravenscroft Street.
When asked about the plans, Rev. Beautyman responded,
"The church has always responded to the needs of the community. In the old church building extra bench pews were put in to seat the extra people coming along. As we grow a new church for new generations we again need to make changes and alterations to the building. It will still look the same on the outside but there will be some differences inside. It will still be a place for worship - but much more too."
The building will not be finished until late spring 2008. More details will be in the next edition of the Echo.
For updates or to discuss the plans contact Paul on 664 7538 or visit the church website www.gilmerton.org.uk
