Gilmerton New Church is for young people and their
families. We want to offer you safe and sacred
people and places where you and your family can
experience and explore the Christian way of life.
This is part of our commitment to offer the best
quality youth work for you and your children.
In these early years the church has
concentrated on working in partnership with schools
and community agencies. Church staff and volunteers
run a number of clubs and classes (see School
Activities) which are open to all young people.
We recognise that sports and the arts are important
to many young people so we are involved in those
areas (see Cross
Sports and The Arts).
Our staff are committed to home
visits and visit young people who come along to our
clubs on a regular basis. If you would like a visit
from any worker please contact us.
We are a church for young people AND
their families, not a church for young people alone.
So, we hope to run a series of evenings to support
parents of young people. Details will be posted on
this website and advertised through the schools.
All our workers are vetted by
Disclosure Scotland through the Church of Scotland's
Safeguarding (Child Protection) Office. If you have
any questions about this area please contact Paul
Beautyman or the church's Child Protection officer
Alistair White on 0131 664 1614.
"Gilmerton New Church makes a valuable
contribution to the life of our school. Through
sports clubs, lunch clubs, RE classes and assemblies
they help support our pupils and staff. Their
workers - Paul Beautyman, Christina and Paul Enever
and now the sports workers Ross Watters and Luke
Mathieson work hard for us." Liberton High
"Over the years Paul and his team have worked hard to support our pupils and staff. Christina and Paul
Enever have been great supporting our drama shows, Ross Watters and Luke Mathieson are doing a great job in
the PE department and all have been involved with the RE department. We look forward to working with them in future."

"Having a strong link to the community is important to us as the primary school. Gilmerton Church supports us through assemblies, classes and
special events like our end of term show. Paul Beautyman, Paul and Christina Enever, Ross Watters and Luke Mathieson help
provide positive role models for young people in our community."

"Paul has been a friend to Kenny and Jenny over the years, all the way since primary school into high school. He has helped them grow up!"

"Through the church Douglas has gone away on Christians in Sport camp which he really enjoyed. He loves Cross Sports on a Friday night and it is good for him."
