Text Box: Cross Sports / Cross Arts This is an innovative and exciting project led by churches in South Edinburgh. Based in two local high schools we run a large number of sports, arts, music and dance clubs with the aim of living out Jesus' call to offer life in all it's fullness. A central part of the programme has been our summer event. We worked with 20 young people in 2005, 44 in 2006, 100 in 2007 and we hope to reach at least 200 this year as we extend from one base in Liberton High into the other local school, Gracemount High. All of the young people from our first event in 2005 are still involved - many as junior leaders. The Theme 'Be the Best' is based around Matthew's description of Jesus as the chosen one, and we want young people to explore 'being the best'. The Programme Saturday June 28 and Sunday June 29 Training weekend Monday June 30 to Friday 4 July Activities (sport, music, drama and dance) Evening Clubhouse Saturday July 5 Celebration Day The Team The team will be a wonderful mix of local young people who have grown up through Cross Sports / Cross Arts, volunteers, youth workers and ministers from local churches in South Edinburgh plus folk from across Scotland. We are also pleased to welcome two groups from America, one connected with Every Nations church in Edinburgh and one through the Young Life organisation. Who do we want…? Anyone who loves sport, music, drama, dance (one or all of them!), loves young people and loves God. We also need administration and first aid volunteers, so you don't have to run around all day! You have an important role to play, whether returning from an earlier year or coming along for the first time. CSCA 08 will also be a great opportunity to learn more about sports and arts ministry through specialised training, networking with others and just doing it! Many team members have gone on to develop similar work in their own churches and we want to encourage that.
